 اجتمع قادة المجتمع المحلي، والمدافعون عن حقوق الإنسان، وداعمو السلام في فعالية “معًا في وئام”: متحدون من أجل السلام”، التي عُقدت في مركز غرانفيل في 22 اذار  مارس 2025، للاحتفال بالتنوع الثقافي وتعزيز مبادرات السلام. استضافت الفعالية كلٌ من منظمة الثقافة السماوية، ومنظمة السلام العالمي (HWPL)، ومنظمة استعادة النور، والمجموعة الدولية للمرأة من أجل السلام (IWPG)، والمجموعة الدولية للشباب من أجل السلام (IPYG)، وبرعاية مؤسسة سوهاس الخيرية. سلّطت الفعالية الضوء على أهمية الحوار والقيادة والتعاون في جهود السلام العالمية.

حلقة نقاش: قيادة مبادرات السلام التي يقودها المواطنون

من أبرز فعاليات الفعالية حلقة نقاشية ثرية حول “بناء جسور لمبادرات السلام الوطنية: إنشاء برامج سلام تشريعية يقودها المواطنون”. شارك نخبة من المتحدثين بخبراتهم في تعزيز السلام والوحدة:

تحدثت الدكتورة ديان كولمان، عضو المجلس البلدي لمدينة كمبرلاند، عن دور الحكومة المحلية في دعم جهود السلام الشعبية، مؤكدةً على أهمية “المواطنة الفاعلة، حيث يجتمع الناس ويدعمون بعضهم البعض”.

وشاركت السيدة مجان طاهري، المؤسسة والرئيسة التنفيذية لمركز “يونايتنج سيركل” المجتمعي متعدد الثقافات، رؤىً حول كيفية مساهمة مجتمعات اللاجئين والمهاجرين في التماسك الاجتماعي، وأهمية التعليم والتفاهم في تعزيز الانسجام.

وسلط القس عمران مقصود، من كنيسة ليفربول الجنوبية الأنجليكانية، الضوء على أهمية الحوار بين الأديان وفهم سياق النصوص المقدسة كمفتاح لتعزيز الانسجام والتفاهم المتبادل بين مختلف الأديان.

وشدد السيد نويل زيهاباموي، مؤسس ورئيس مركز المناصرة الأسترالي الأفريقي، على دور التعليم والتفاهم في بناء السلام، وتحدث عن كيفية عمل منظمته، مركز المناصرة الأسترالي الأفريقي، على مساعدة الأستراليين على فهم هوية الأفارقة في السياق الأسترالي.

عززت رؤاهم الحاجة إلى تضافر الجهود بين الحكومات والمجتمعات والمنظمات لإنشاء برامج سلام مستدامة.

Sydney, Australia – March 22, 2025 – Community leaders, advocates, and peace supporters gathered at the “Together in Harmony: Uniting for Peace” event, held at the Granville Centre on March 22, 2025, to celebrate cultural diversity and advance peace initiatives. Hosted by Heavenly Culture, World Peace (HWPL), Restoration of Light), International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG), and International Peace Youth Group (IPYG), and sponsored by SOHAS Charity, the event highlighted the importance of dialogue, leadership, and collaboration in global peace efforts.
Panel Discussion: Driving Citizen-Led Peace Initiatives
A key highlight of the event was a thought-provoking panel discussion on “Building Bridges for National Peace Initiatives: Establishing Citizen-Led Legislative Peace Programs.” Distinguished panellists shared their expertise on fostering peace and unity:
Councillor Dr. Diane Colman from Cumberland City Council – Spoke on the role of local government in supporting grassroots peace efforts and emphasized the importance of “active citizenship, where people come together and support each other.”
Mrs. Mugan Tahery, founder and CEO of Uniting Circle Multicultural Community Centre – Shared insights on how refugee and migrant communities contribute to social cohesion and the importance of education and understanding in fostering harmony.
Pastor Imran Maqsood from Liverpool South Anglican Church– Highlighted the significance of interfaith dialogue and understanding the context of scriptures as key to encouraging harmony and mutual understanding among different faiths.
Mr. Noel Zabawa, founder and chairman of African Australian Advocacy Centre– Emphasised the role of education and understanding in peacebuilding and shared how his organization, the African Australian Advocacy Centre, works to help Australians understand who Africans in the Australian context are.
Their insights reinforced the need for collaborative efforts between governments, communities, and organizations to establish sustainable peace programs.
Appointment of Deputy Branch Managers: Strengthening Leadership in Peace Work
In a significant moment for HWPL Sydney, Marilie Bomediano and Moses Vedamuthu were officially appointed as Deputy Branch Managers. Their appointments represent a commitment to expanding HWPL’s peace initiatives, strengthening community engagement, and fostering collaboration between diverse groups.
“The role of a Deputy Branch Manager is more than a title—it is a commitment to actively leading peace efforts both locally and globally,” said Fa’alia Mareko. “Marilie and Moses will play a crucial role in bringing communities together and furthering HWPL’s mission.”
MOU Signing Between HWPL and SOHAS Charity
Further solidifying partnerships for peace, the event featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between HWPL and SOHAS Charity. This MOU marks a shared commitment to advancing humanitarian projects, community education, and collaborative peace initiatives. The partnership will enable both organizations to work together in fostering long-term solutions for peace and social harmony.

Cultural Performance by Nritya Laya Dance School
Attendees were also treated to a stunning cultural performance by Nritya Laya Dance School, showcasing the rich traditions of South Asian classical dance. The performance symbolised the beauty of diversity and the power of cultural expression in promoting unity and mutual understanding.
Looking Ahead: Expanding Peace Efforts in Sydney and Beyond
The “Together in Harmony” event not only celebrated peace but also laid the foundation for stronger collaborations, community-driven initiatives, and ongoing dialogue. With new leaders appointed and partnerships strengthened, HWPL Sydney continues to expand its efforts to build a culture of peace through education, advocacy, and action.
